1. Sri Seshadri Swamigal Ashram
Mahan Sri Seshadri Swamigal was a contemporary of Ramana Maharshi. In fact, it was Seshadri Swamigal who first recognized the young Ramana meditating in the underground vault of the Arunachaleswarar temple and helped protect him.
- Location: Located on Chengam Road, immediately adjacent to Sri Ramana Ashram.
- Vibe: The ashram has incredibly beautiful, dense gardens where peacocks roam freely. The energy is highly intense and vibrating, very different from the absolute stillness of Ramana Ashram.
- Samadhi Shrine: The main shrine houses the Samadhi (tomb) of the saint. Sitting here for meditation is a deeply moving experience.
2. Yogi Ramsuratkumar Ashram (Visiri Samiyar)
Yogi Ramsuratkumar, affectionately known as the "Godchild of Tiruvannamalai" or "Visiri Samiyar" (the saint with the hand-fan), was a majestic spiritual presence in the town until he attained Mahasamadhi in 2001.
- Location: A bit further down the Girivalam path (near the Agni Lingam).
- The Ashram: The ashram is massive, extremely clean, and architecturally stunning with a massive dome. It is designed to accommodate thousands of devotees.
- Practices: The primary spiritual practice here is Nama Japa (chanting). You will hear the continuous, rhythmic chanting of "Yogi Ramsuratkumar, Yogi Ramsuratkumar, Yogi Ramsuratkumar, Jaya Guru Raya" echoing through the vast meditation hall.
